Psychodynamic psychotherapy is based on a conviction in the power and mystery of the unconscious mind. It is a treatment that invites exploration of one’s past and current challenges in order to grow and learn better adaptive responses to difficult situations. These include, for example, repetitive patterns that are unproductive and potentially destructive, relationship difficulties, and obstacles that are encountered which prevent success. Psychodynamic psychotherapy is an opportunity to work with a trusted individual to look deeply at these obstacles and painful life experiences in order to understand and change our patterns and open up new possibilities.
